Participant observation

P

Participant observation is a research method where the researcher participates as a member of the group they are studying. Sometimes the researcher informs the group that they are being observed for research, and other times they may pretend to be an ordinary member of the group (however, there are ethical dilemmas that come with researching “undercover”).
