World café

W

World café is a methodology for facilitating informal group discussions. Participants sit at tables in groups and discuss an assigned topic in rounds of 20-30 minutes, rotating tables each time. Each round, one person stays behind at each table to share what was discussed. All discussions are eventually summarised as a large group. The cross-pollination of ideas between conversations is thought to result in richer knowledge sharing as a group. The café-like setting is intended to create a relaxing atmosphere to encourage the free flow of conversation.
