Request for proposal (RFP)

A request for proposal (RFP) is a document announcing a project and requesting bids from contractors who could complete it. An RFP is like a job posting for projects and usually requires the contractor to submit a proposal with a project plan in response. RFPs are one way that organizations may solicit evaluation services. The organization that posted the RFP is responsible for selecting a contractor amongst the proposals that have been submitted.
