Quality improvement

Q

Quality improvement (QI) is a formal approach to continuous improvement in an organization. QI involves the combined efforts of everyone to make changes that lead to better performance, better outcomes, and more learning. Although all improvement involves change, not all change is necessarily improvement. To make sure changes ARE improvements, QI guides the changes by collecting information through ongoing evaluation, creating plans based on that information, and carrying out the plans for positive change.
