Photovoice
Photovoice is a qualitative research method where participants use cameras to take photos about a given theme. Participants then use the photos they’ve taken to explain their perspective to the researchers. Photovoice can help understand abstract or complex topics, raise awareness within a community, and communicate with policy-makers.
This method was first articulated by public health scholars Carolyn Wang, Mary Ann Burris, and Xiang Yue Ping, and has since been adopted by evaluators.
