Generalizability

G

Generalizability (a.k.a. external validity) refers to how the results of an evaluation can be applied to other situations. In other words, do the results only tell us something about the program being evaluated, or can the findings be used to predict what might happen in other programs?

A study or evaluation can vary in how generalizable it is. An evaluation might only apply to a very specific context and group of people, or it might be designed to apply to other populations or environments.
