Data ownership refers to the legal or organizational rights and responsibilities associated with the control, access, and use of data. It establishes who has ultimate authority and accountability over the data and determines the rights and permissions granted to individuals or entities regarding data management and utilization. Those who have ownership of the data are called the data owners.
