Cultural competency is the ability to understand and effectively work with people across different cultures. In the health and social services, cultural competence also refers to providing services that meet the cultural, social, and linguistic needs of patients/ consumers. Improving the cultural competence of an organization may require training for staff and changes to company policies and procedures.
