Accuracy

Accuracy in evaluation refers to the degree of reliability, truthfulness, comprehensiveness, and overall quality of the information presented. Accuracy is one of the Program Evaluation Standards as outlined by the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation.

Key considerations for assessing accuracy in evaluation include:

  • Are the conclusions drawn from the information well-supported and justified?

  • Is the interpretation of the information valid, taking into account the relevant context?

    • Do the findings align with the needs and expectations of the intended users?

    • Are the demographics of the sample used in the evaluation representative of the larger population being served?

    • Is there any evidence of one particular group being overrepresented due to a higher response rate?

    • Are there any significant gaps where specific groups or perspectives are missing from the evaluation?

  • Did the evaluation follow a systematic and rigorous process for gathering, reviewing, and analyzing the information collected?

These considerations collectively contribute to the assessment of accuracy in an evaluation, ensuring that the information presented is reliable and relevant for decision-making and planning purposes.
